This is a new review and it’s wow!! Team Up avail on Amazon.
I always love a good horse book, and this did not disappoint. I always enjoy reading horse stories set in different countries and how different the horse community can be from where I am located in the U.S. This book included adults and kids involved with horses- trainers, professional riders, judges, hobby riders and kids that have varying interests in horses- showing (jumping and flat classes) and games/Pony Club.
I really like that the author touched on social media/Facebook and the way it can affect people thru posting videos or even simply clicking “like” and showing approval of possible bullying. There is so much responsibility and maturity involved with owning a cell phone and having instant access to camera and video- I have always thought that would be a tough area to navigate when you are dealing with growing up, bullying, embarassing events that feel like the end of the world (but really aren’t). How someone acts, reacts and conducts themselves on social media speaks a lot for their character- and you can really see how Hetta, the main character, thinks through the consequences (even though she is not reliant on social media). But social media also proved how invaluable it can be in this story when Hetta forwards info on a stolen horse.
I also really appreciate that correct horse terms were used- it really spoils a story when the reader knows better than author that equipment names are not interchangeable (halter/bridle) and what is reasonable and possible in the world of horses when the story is intended to be read as real life.
This book is a great introduction to different characters that are involved in the horse community in different ways and there is still so much to learn about them (and their horses) I was definitely wondering while I was reading how some of those relationships might develop further…or not. I can’t wait to read more!
